Pomskies are a crossbreed of Siberian Huskies and Pomeranians that are also known as “Pomeranian Husky Mix” dogs. Since Pomskies have inherited both of their parent dog’s genes, therefore, their size is not definite as Siberian Huskies or Pomeranians. And such a factor naturally can make anyone of you think about exactly how big do Pomskies get!

So, let’s not think anymore and check out how big these lovely furballs can get.

How Big Do Pomskies Get?

The standard size of a fully grown Pomsky is between 13-18 inches in height, 30 lbs in weight, and up to 18 inches in length(from chest to rear). As Pomskies are a crossbreed of Siberian Huskies and Pomeranians, so they are medium-sized dogs and the standard size is between their parent dogs’ size.

Depending on their genes and a few other factors, there are different types of Pomskies. So after knowing the names of those different types of Pomskies, it’s obvious you would like to know their exact sizes. Therefore, in this section, the exact sizes of all the most popular types of Pomskies have been included for your knowledge.

Standard Pomsky:

A fully grown-up standard Pomsky’s height is between 13 to 18 inches, weight is around 30 lbs, and length (from their chest to rear) goes up to 18 inches. And this size the standard size of a Pomsky regardless of their gender.

This size is called the standard size because Pomskies own genes from both of their parents’ dogs Siberian Huskies and Pomeranians. So they got medium size which is neither big like Huskies nor small like Pomeranians, it’s a size in between both of their parent dog’s size.

Male Pomskies:

The ideal size of a fully grown-up male is around 12 to 15 inches (30- 38 cm) in height and 24 to 30 pounds (10-13 kg) in weight. It’s an on average size of a make Pomsky, they can grow a few more inches depending on their parent’s gene.

Female Pomskies:

Female Pomskies grow up to 10 to 13 inches (25-33 cm) tall and weigh around 20 to 26 pounds (9-11 kg). This is the standard/on average size of a female Pomsky, they also can grow a few more inches). However, know that a female Pomsky will be a little smaller in size than a male and will weigh a little less too.

F1 Pomskies:

Different generations of Pomskies don’t define their size. How big a Pomsky will get entirely depends on the size of its parent dogs the Siberian Husky and Pomeranian. So whether it’s an F1 generation’s Pomsky or an F2 generation’s Pomsky, you can get both a large and small sized Pomsky from both generations.

F2 Pomskies:

Just like the F1 generation of Pomskies, the F2 generation also doesn’t promise about any exact size of Pomskies. The sizes of the F2 generation of Pomskies also rely on the size of their parent dogs.

So you can get both a large-sized and small-sized Pomsky from the F2 generation. However, the breeder can give an idea about the standard size of Pomskies of any generation.

Miniature Pomskies:

Miniature Pomskies are born of Mini Huskies and Mini Pomeranian so they are smaller in size than a standard size Pomsky. And these Mini Pomskies will have a height no taller than 10 inches and weigh around 3 to 8 pounds.

Toy Pomskies:

Miniature Pomskies are known as the Toy Pomskies too because of their adorable toy-like look. Therefore, there is no size difference between a Toy Pomsky and a Miniature Pomsky. Even these Pomskies will weigh between 3-8 lbs and will grow up to within 10 inches means their height will be within 10 inches.

Teacup Pomskies:

Just like Toy Pomsky and Pocket Size Pomsky, Teacup Pomsky is also another name of Miniature Pomskies. So, there is no difference between a Teacup Pomsky and a Miniature Pomsky in terms of size, weight, and height. The standard size for the Teacup Pomskies is also within 10 inches in height and about 3-8 lbs in weight.

Pomsky 2nd Gen:

Pomsky 2nd gen and F2 Pomskies are the same. So, Pomsky 2nd gen also has no exact size. What size they will get after growing up fully depends on their parent dog breed’s size.

What Factors Contribute To A Pomsky’s Size?

It’s  important for you to learn all these factors that influence the size of Pomskies. Therefore, all of the main factors have been explained to help you to get to know what size Pomsky you can expect to have as your Pomsky pup grows.

Genes:

Genes from both the Siberian Husky parent and Pomeranian parent contributes the most in determining the standard size of Pomskies.

As Pomskies inherit genes from both the parents, therefore, if both of their parents were standard-sized Husky and Pomeranian, Pomskies will get the standard size too. And this standard size is in between the size of both of their parents which make Pomskies a medium-sized dog breed.

Size Of Parents:

The size of Pomsky’s parents (Siberian Husky and Pomeranian) is the other main factor that has a direct contribution in deciding what size a Pomsky will achieve after fully grown.

If both of the parents’ were bigger in size then you can expect to have a larger size/standard size Pomsky. But if the parents’ were smaller sized then the Pomskies will be smaller in size too.

However, to have a safe chance to get bigger-sized/at least standard-sized Pomskies, breeders bred Pomskies from a larger-sized mother dog and a standard-sized father dog.

Gender:

Gender plays an important role too in determining the size of Pomskies. Generally, male Pomskies tend to grow up in larger sizes than any female Pomsky. Even male Pomskies weigh a few pounds more than female Pomskies.

But know that the difference between the sizes of males and females is not much, males Pomskies grow about 2 to 3 inches more than a female Pomsky. And it’s totally normal in any breed of dogs.

Generation:

In terms of different generations of Pomsky dogs, generation influence only a little bit in deciding the exact size of Pomskies. If a Pomsky has a family tree with more Siberian Huskies then you can expect the puppy to be a large one. But if its family tree has more Pomeranians than the puppy can be a smaller one.

Actually, different generations of Pomskies directly or indirectly don’t really contribute to determining the exact size of Pomskies. But most of you think it’s one of the major factors that’s why this aspect has been explained here.

Always know that the size and genes of Pomsky’s parent dogs decide the size of Pomskies.

How Much Do Pomskies Weigh?

An adult and standard-sized Pomsky will weigh between 20 to 30 lbs (9-13 kg) and this weight is regardless of male and female Pomskies.

How Fast Do Pomskies Grow?

Pomskies grow really fast. You can expect your Pomsky pup to grow more than halfway of its total growth by 6 months old. And by one year of age, you can expect to have a full-grown Pomsky.

However, if your Pomsky doesn’t gain its full growth by 12 months old, don’t worry. Because Pomskies are known to be fully grown by 18 months old, so by 18 months your Pomsky will surely get its full growth.

Do Pomskies Stay Small?

It’s nearly impossible for Pomskies to stay small because their sizes are variable. So from the puppy phase to the adult phase, Pomskies will gain weight, height, and body length.

However, naturally, it’s also impossible when many breeders promise that their Miniature Pomsky dogs will not grow more than 10 inches and will stay small forever. Because Miniature Pomskies are not meant to breed at all. And even if they are bred mini-sized dogs, they can be unhealthy and their lifespan is short.

When Will My Pomsky Stop Growing?

Maximum Pomskies will stop their skeletal growth by the age of 1 year old. This means, around the first birthday of Pomskies, their bones gain full length and most Pomskies reach their maximum height.

However, some Pomskies can grow till 18 months old. And till 18 months old, they all will gain their standard weight.

How Long Does It Take For A Pomsky To Be Fully Grown?

Pomskies take around 12 to 18 months to be fully grown. But most of them reach their full growth by 12 months old but gain weight till 18 months old.

Sizes of Pomsky’s both parents decide how big a Pomsky will get after reaching its adulthood. So, if you want to get a larger Pomsky, get one from large-sized parents of Pomskies.
